02 / Why it works

Fuel that keeps pace with the effort.

  • 01

    40g carbohydrate

Enough to matter on long days, in one sachet. Two gels an hour gives you 80g.

  • 02

    Two salt levels

Low below 18°C. High above it, or when you sweat heavily.

  • 03

    Easy on the stomach

“8 gels in 4 hours with no stomach issues.”
JF, marathon · review via Judge.me, edited

  • 04

    Race tested

Tested with 50+ elite athletes before launch, then raced at the Castle Race Series.

03 / The system

Works best as a system.

The Fourth Discipline™

Fuel smarter. Not harder.

The system is ours. The destination is yours.

Alistair’s Perspective

“As an athlete, I learnt that simplicity wins under pressure. I didn’t want a fuelling strategy that worked on paper. I wanted one that still worked when I was exhausted. That’s why every truefuels gel contains 40 g of carbohydrate. You don’t need to calculate 73 g or 87 g per hour. You simply decide whether today’s session requires one, two or three gels.”

Alistair Brownlee, Two-time Olympic Triathlon Champion and truefuels co-founder
“It helped me achieve a 21-minute PB in a Half-Ironman.”

04 / Formula

What's inside. Nothing it doesn't need.

Six ingredients plus water. Every one has a job, and every job fits on one line.

Read the full science

This formula doesn’t stop evolving once it ships. We keep testing and refining it with sports scientists and our own athletes.

See our process
Carbohydrate 40g Glucose and fructose, 1:1. The fuel for long efforts
Sodium 386mg or 98mg From Himalayan salt. Replaces part of what sweat takes out.
Potassium 288mg From coconut. 14% of your daily reference intake, in every gel.
Magnesium 30mg 8% of your daily reference intake, in every gel.

Mix the two to set sodium independently of carbs. 1 Low + 1 High = 80g carbs and about 480mg sodium an hour.

Per gel: 160 kcal · 40g carbohydrate · 23.4g sugars · 288mg potassium · 30mg magnesium. Where two values are given, the first is High salt.

05 / Tested

Batch tested. Nothing to hide.

Every batch is screened for banned substances under Informed Sport before it ships. So you can race on it without a second thought.

    11 / Questions

    Questions? Answered.

    Visit the help centre
Which gel do I use when?

Low Salt below 18°C. High Salt above it, or if you finish sessions with salt on your skin. Mix them to set your hour.

    Is it sweet?

Mild, with a little salt. Most reviews call it subtle; a few find it sweet. The Mix Box lets you try both on long sessions.

I use Maurten / SiS / Precision Fuel. Why switch?

Same job, one less product. Their carbs and your salt usually come from two places; ours come from one sachet. Switch in training, never on race day. You have 60 days.

    Isn’t £3.00 a gel expensive?

Compare per 10g of carbs: £0.52 on the Flexible Plan, £0.75 one-time. At 40g a sachet you take fewer per hour.

    Do I still need electrolytes?

Gels alone give up to about 1,160mg sodium an hour (3 × High). Heavy sweaters in heat often add Electrolytes to the bottle.

Can I put it in a bottle?

Yes. It’s thinner than most gels, so many customers mix it into water on the bike.

Is it tested for banned substances?

Every batch is Informed Sport certified before it ships.

    How fast is delivery?

Delivery to the UK: 1 to 3 working days, with the shipping fee shown at checkout. The delivery date for your order is shown under Add to cart.
